Driving Range Bunkers 
If you have been out to the range recently, you might have noticed some working going on in the landing of the driving range. The turf maintenance team is in the process of constructing bunkers around the target greens.

Winter Play

How are the roots doing? 
The quality of the putting surface is direcetly related to the quality of the root system. That is why the turf maintenance team punches holes in the greens to allow oxygen into the root system and allow them to breath and continue to survive.

Watering for Healthy Turf 
As summer officially starts tomorrow, it seems the temperatures are cranking up a little early. We just went through our first hot and dry spell of the summer.
New Goose Control 
The turf team is trying a new goose control method to try to deter the geese from coming to the course to sleep. This method is a solar powered flashing amber light that blinks at night.

How has the Roller Coaster Spring Effected the Greens?  
This Spring has proven to be a roller coaster of temperature swings. An early warm up, followed by a late snow, then more cooler moderate temps, and a few 90 degree days have certainly had an up and down effect on soil temperatures which control how the turf plants grow.

As most of the snow has melted from the golf courses the race has begun to get the courses cleaned up from the winter and ready for another exciting golf season. There are many different jobs that have to be accomplished in order to get the golf courses open for play with great conditions.

New Sands Bins 
The mild temperatures this January have given the turf team the opportunity to start building new sand bins to store bunker sand and topdressing. The bins will help prevent the different sands from becoming contaminated as well as give the left of 6 East a cleaner appearance.
