Tree Removal 15 West

The cold temperatures earlier this week gave the turf team a great opportunity to get out on the course and start removing some of the dead and declining trees on the golf course. The focus this week was on a group of Ash trees to the left of 15 fairway on the West. The picture below shows we removed 11 ash trees that have been in decline for several years. They were infected with the emerald ash borer and the trees were not healthy enough to consider saving. The emerald ash borer is an insect that has migrated into Central Pennsylvania in the last few years, and is killing many ash trees. We have begun a treatment plan to protect some of the healthier Ash trees on the course from this insect.
