Watering for Healthy Turf
As summer officially starts tomorrow, it seems the temperatures are cranking up a little early. We just went through our first hot and dry spell of the summer.
The hotter weather also brings the need to cool the grass in the afternoons.   This practice is called syringing the greens, and we are not trying to water them heavily, just simply cool the top of the plant to give it a break from the afternoon heat.  As the turf team is working hard in the heat to keep the greens alive and playable, we do ask that you please refrain from hitting a shot into the green if you see a turf team member syringing the green.  We will work hard to get off the green as quickly as possible.  The following is a link from the USGA that talks about the practice of hand watering.
